You've inherited something, and you're not sure what it is.
That's the most common call I get. There's no pressure and no obligation. I'm happy to tell you what you have even if you decide to keep it.
Most of what I buy comes from families, not dealers. Usually a parent or grandparent has died, there's a footlocker or a closet shelf nobody has opened in decades, and the people sorting it out don't know whether they're looking at something significant or a pile of old clothing. Both happen. Either way you deserve a straight answer.
I buy outright, in cash or by check, and I'll travel anywhere in Connecticut, western Massachusetts, or Rhode Island to look at a collection in person. For anything larger or further away, we'll figure it out.
How it works

Send photos
Phone photos are fine. Lay things out on a bed or a table, get the labels and any paperwork, and email them over. I'll usually reply within a day with a rough idea of what you have.

We talk it through
I'll tell you what's collectible, what isn't, and what I'd recommend keeping regardless of value. Named groups and paperwork often mean more to a family than they do on the open market, and I'll say so.

I make an offer
For anything substantial I'd rather see it in person. The offer is itemised so you can see what's driving the number, and it stands for thirty days. If you want to think about it, or get a second opinion, that's reasonable.

Payment and pickup
Paid on the spot, and I handle the packing and removal. If there are items you want to keep back, we set those aside first. I won't push you on it.
What I'm looking for
Especially interested in
Named groupings kept together, uniforms with insignia intact, discharge paperwork and photograph albums, WWI and WWII helmets, Vietnam-era jungle fatigues, and anything with a documented connection to a specific person or unit.
Less suited to me
Firearms of any kind, live ordnance, post-1990 issue gear, and reproductions. If you have something outside what I handle, I'll point you toward someone who does, including a licensed dealer for anything that needs one.
